RAM mixing question

I have 1.5 gbs of generic RAM in my mobo. Its the 512 stick that came with the pc and a 1gb stick i got from my local redshift store and i have to ask will the work be able to work together if i put another 2gbs of corsair or OCZ RAM into my mobo or will it slow down. I can't check the speeds on the generic ram for some reason.

My mobo is Abit AW8D

It is NEVER a good idea to mix RAM types! Remove the old RAM and replace it with the new OZC or Corsair 2GB RAM Your system will love you for following this advice
