I am trying to do a full reformat of my Compaq Presario model number SR1030NX. OS is WinXP. I just bought a brand new set of recovery discs. On disc 1, when trying to create the recovery partition, I am getting the message c:\i386\Apps\apps.log cannot be recovered. I press retry and keep getting the same message.
I went to the Manufacturer Menu and Selected option <4> clear the partition table. Then I brought up the Tools Menu and selected option <5> erase the Master Boot Record of drive. I brought up the tools menu again and Select option <6> wipe all sectors of drive. Then I pressed R to begin the automatic System Recovery process. I am still getting the error c:\i386\Apps\apps.log cannot be recovered. Can you help me?
