Removal of Security Toolbar 7.1

Hi there,

I am new to this forum, so any help/guidance and forgiveness of errors would be appreciated.

I located this site through an Internet search seeking help to remove the "Security Toolbar 7.1" issue.

I followed the 15 step instructions to the best of my ability.

I have attached the three log files required.

Additionally, nothing suspicious was found with the Antirootkit scan, and I found no other issues that need mentioning.

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Jeff

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

Video Add-on

Close control panel.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O3 - Toolbar: IE Custom Tools - {6CA49FDD-4AEB-4F08-A394-C0A1F82CAA16} - C:\Program Files\Video Add-on\ictmdl.dll

O16 - DPF: {405BBF5B-2FD8-4614-AC51-D8566F635B94} (SafeWallet Class) - http://idsm.citadelprocessing.com/SafeCommon/downloads/WalletCab.CAB

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or folders(if there).

C:\Program Files\Video Add-on

Reboot into normal mode and rehide your protected OS files.

Post a fresh HJT log.

Howard,

Many thanks! After the reboot, the toolbar did not reload in my Internet.

Attached is an updated HJT log.

Thank you again!
Jeff

Your HJT log is clean.

Delete the following.

C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\Qoobox

Your can get rid of the tools etc from the 15step removal process.

I recommend you keep SS&D/Ad-Aware/Ccleaner.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Now, turn system restore back on. This will have deleted all your old restore points and any nasties that are in them. It will also have created a new, clean restore point.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

Regards Howard :)
