What just happened? Are you a PC owner looking forward to facing all nine foot, six inches of Lady Dimitrescu when Resident Evil Village arrives on May 7? Capcom has just released the hardware requirement for its next installment in the long-running horror franchise, and they’re pretty forgiving.

Despite usually looking very pretty, the Resident Evil games tend to be well-optimized on the PC. Resi Village appears to be no exception, with the minimum 1080p requirements asking for just a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 560 and Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200. The recommended specs for that resolution are a Core i7 8700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and a GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700.

Minimum requirements (1080p)

  • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • RAM: 8GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 560
  • DirectX: Version 12

Recommended requirements (1080p)

  • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 8700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700
  • DirectX: Version 12

For those sporting a 4K display, Capcom has listed several GPUs and what framerates users can expect to see when ray tracing is enabled. Even the RTX 2070 can manage 45fps at 3840 x 2160, though you'll likely need to drop other settings.

Ray tracing recommended requirements (4K)

  • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 8700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (4K/45fps) / Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 (4K/60fps) / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (4K/45fps) / AMD Radeon RX 6800 (4K/45fps) / AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (4K/60fps)
  • DirectX: Version 12

No word on install size, but the Microsoft Store has it at around 45GB. Village is about 27GB on the PS5, so the PC listing could include the free Resident Evil Re:Verse multiplayer game and a day-one patch.

Permalink to story.

REmake 2 and 3 are well optimized, but RE7 wasn't well optimized at all at release. Updates improved things but it still isn't a very well optimized game.

Anyways, great news. Considering the current situation of the GPU market, I'm expecting to see many developers scaling down on system spec requirements in the following months / years. Like I said before, one good thing that could come out of this, is forcing devs to relearn how to properly optimize games.

320x200-16k textures supported we hope. play it like ps1 re1 ps2 re2 3 gaming all over again LIKE . since re4 was out the change of old re 3 was much prettier gaming. the old style was nice playing too. 4k gaming should be no problems if you got top end specs pc laptops. Some high textures needing atleast 4-8 gb vram textures.
And a good driver update program like drivermax pro. ps1 was wery low quality ps2 somehow dvd quality. remeber that new games needing some months to get it out to everbody with not same specs like other players.
Gpu in ps1 n64 was low gaming. now if games like re 6 7 has higer textures and badly optimized tha could be a bad driver in system or components that not talk good with eatchother. if a gAME needs little less then future requierments that means it better optimised with new gpu cpu tecs. som 1 st it needing more cpu gpu on low gaming pc s laptops.
If you can run as low as 320x200- 800-600 yeah needing more gpu cpu ram in computer laptops but gaming in 1k-8k textures requiers o.c better specs from pc you using.
if you see in some doom games you can set it to low for benchmarcing ingame .then put it in 4k and still run that game nicely but only in 15-25 fps.
what would you choose gaming in 320x200 or go for 1k 4k 5k 6k 8k gaming ?
game cube re 1 480p remakes and pc version 1080p had to run good on new pc s in that time too.
If re 8 gets limited on ps5 but not on pc. textures looks better on pc or ps 4 5 ? would you choose ps4 5 or pc. as you see 27 gb are enough but 45-60 gb to getting those updates in and makes pc gaming better. ps 4 5 could also get those updates but would be about 30 gb less more.
gog .com play older games but better performance on older games needing a old specs pc .vs new specs pc optimiced drivers and so on.
