Rome total war Patch 1.2 so I can play the mods

Hi I need some help bad. I have installed and un installed Rome total war about 10 times I cant handel this any more. I am trying to patch my version of rome total war to 1.2 so I can play the total realism mods. But every time I go to patch my 1.0 version on RTW i get a msg flash on my screen that I am unable to do this because RTW is already patched to 1.2 version. Which is not true. I need help because I really cant sit through another install again.
