Router is being a pain

I have a basic motorola router. I have had it for awhile. I connect my modem to it but it does not work their is a light flashing red symbolizing it has no connection. When I plug my modem directly into the computer my internet works fine. I have tried multiple cables, turning the router on and off, going to the setting and restarting it and reset it from the back but still nothing. Any ideas or just time for a new router?

Try unplugging the the power and the cable from the modem to the router. Leave it off for a couple of minutes. connect the cable from the modem to the router, plug the router back into outlet. wait for the lights to stop blinking(hopefully) usually a few seconds. Then connect back to computer and turn on computer.

Try that.......if not then maybe it might be time for a new one.

Yup, time for a new one the ethernet jack went bad.
