Runnng Ad-Aware shuts down PC

I have been running ad-aware for a few years on my PC and for some reason recently when i try to run it, it will get so far and then shut down my PC. I am running windows XP home edition SP2. Cananyone help. I have run hijackthis and can provide this detail if required.

Uninstall and reinstall Ad-Aware.
