There are people who care about all sorts of things.... but they’re outliers... there’s a reason Nvidia gets away with selling 3090s...
outlier..... 3090...... ? mmm interesting... Steam says 0.45% of their user base. If you put it in, the non gamer computers, you then understand what is an outlier. Also, most computers are OEM and OEMs care about PSU specs (and yes I know that Intel leads in that aspect for other reasons but it's just to make clear that point)

The rest of their power hungry GPUs sell like hotcakes too…

Agree all around. It's amazing for gamers on older AM4 platforms and it's not overly expensive as it's slotting in the original 5800X price point (which I bought a while back for that price).

Intel is way more competitive this generation, so it's not a slam dunk anymore, but another way to see this release is that AMD gets to test 3D V-Cache with a real product while claiming some gaming performance value crown, even if in realistic terms, it's not far off from previous offerings.
In Australia we're seeing the 5800X, 5900X, 5950X heavily discounted.

Wait so is the 5800x3d better for gaming or the i9 12900k (I know I sound really retarded but I'm new to benchmarking) cuz I wanna upgrade my i7 8700k

The 5800x3d wins most games but if you're looking to do a new build right now from scratch then Intel Alder Lake is the way to go.

8700K should be enough until Zen4 comes out. Unless you're going to use existing DDR4 and since about only advantage Alder Lake has is DDR5 support, 5800X3D is better choice.

8700K upgrade means probably there is already DDR4.

The majority of Intel 12 gen boards are DDR4. With that said, if the OP can afford a 12900K then chances are he / she can afford a DDR5 build with an i7.

So wait with ddr4 is the i9 12900k better with gaming cuz I live on my own I'm kinda poor tbh and I have a budget for my cpu if it's more than 900$ I can't so with ddr4 with is the best for gaming, cuz I can't afford ddr5 (thx btw)

The i9 is a hose job. I'd look at the i7 12700F + B660 board tbh.

Thank you for putting Cities Skylines in the benchmarks. Please know that it is NOT a terrible benchmark just because it's single core limited. Many games are single core limited. The entire point of putting a game like this into the benchmarks is precisely to test the games that use sheer horsepower for a single core... many do, especially like AI/simulators. Thanks again!
