  1. Hi

I have just bought myself a wireless network and adapters for my home network. I have 3 pcs and an adsl connection. I have no idea about DHCP or any of those fancy words and I really . Can someone tell me what to do?? is this correct??

___ ADSL router with only one LAN port. Router IP address, subnet =, also has address given to me by my ISP. Has DHCP turned on and only accepts connection from the range of only
___ Wireless router with 5 LAN ports and one WAN port. A crossover cable goes from the one ADSL LAN port to one of the 5 LAN ports on the wireless router. This router has an IP address of, subnet mask = 255.255.2550. Has DHCP turned on to accept connections from the range of 192.128.03-
    ___ PC1 IP address = 192.128.03, subnet =, default gateway =

    ___PC2 IP address = 192.128.04, subnet =, default gateway =

    __PC3 IP address = 192.128.05, subnet =, default gateway =

I know I have to turn WEP encryption on the wireless router and also the MAC addresses have to be entered into the wireless router.

Any help here will be so much appreciated.

You should have only one DHCP server active on your network and it should be on the DSL modem to make handing out gateways and DNS servers easier. Actually you don't need DHCP at all if you assign the IP addresses to computers manually.

Otherwise it is amazingly correct for someone without a clue.
