I'm running win XP pro, with an Asus K8V SE deluxe m/b and 1x Maxtor 120gb 6y120mo sata hdd - all works fine. However, I checked the drive in Sisoft Sandra and noticed that although the max SW DMA and UDMA modes are both 6, the "current active mode" is only set to swdma mode 3.
I also ran a benchmark on the drive, and it came back with a rating of 40MB/s.
Can anyone give me an idea on how to change this? I'd prefer it to be set at mode 5 if I can.. also, what is SWDMA exactly, anyway? Is it "UDMA for SATA drives" or something to that effect?
I've been looking around in the bios, tried updating drivers here and there but without any luck so far, so any ideas on how to go ahead with this would be very much appreciated.
