Hey, I've got a Western Digital Caviar SE SATA 250gb hard drive, and I'm reading it as idling at 60 degrees celcius. Any idea why it is so hot or how to cool it down?

yeah they do. i've tried several in different machines for clients and they all run around the 60 degree mark. must be something wrong with with the sensor.

It's normal for hard drives to run very hot.
60 is modest compared to 15K RPM SCSI drives that you literally can't touch :)

I have seperate small fans on all my scsi drives 10k they get extremly hot
the 2 sata's I use get pretty warm to
keep 'm cool last a long time
