Setting up drive "C"

I'm trying to set up HDD. I go to drive "E" to set up drive "C". I can't continue because I am receiving this massage.

"Please wait while Setup initializes
Scanning system registry..."

CDR101: Not Ready Reading Drive "E"
Abort, Retry, Fail?

Can any one help me on this one?

You have a dirty/scratched/defective CD.
Try some carpolish or Brasso copperpolish. Genly rub it on in circular motion only, then rinse off under the tap, and dry with a lintfree cloth.

boot disk

try booting up form a 3.5" boot disk to run fdisk and format for c:
(windows 98 startup disk - www.bootdisk.com)
