I have a similar problem with the svchost process. When I connect to internet (using Dialup believe it or not!) one of the 6 svchost processes suddenly uses 99% of my CPU, and about 40-50.000 kb of memory. After 20-30 seconds this goes back to 0% CPU and 35.000 kb of memory. This is a little annoying, but most of all I wonder if it could be a virus. About a month ago I had a Svchost.exe virus (located in the c:\windows folder), but I got rid of it, and neither NOD32 nor Avast U3 Edition detects any virus.

That´s all I wanted to know. I think maybe Windows Updates was the problem, ´cause now it´s gone, after installing new updates and restarting system. I´ll write again if the problem occurs again. Thank you
