Okay, so I have a Windows XP Pro and am trying to install The Sims, but I keep getting this error on my computer.

I've been looking around for ages, and dont know how to get it to work. I've done http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767 but the same error message pops up when i type "cmd" into the "run" program. So I can't do that.

I think it may have to do with my System32 folder. I have one, but it's hidden and can't access it unless I do that "show hidden folders" thing or whatever. But it wont even install then.

So yeah. I'm desperately in need of help. It's starting to tick me off.

I installed it in Feb of 2005 when I FIRST got my computer, and it installed fine then, but I uninstalled it a few months later because it was annoying me, and kept freezing everything. I still have a folder on my comp. labeled "Maxis" which is full of weird images, and the photo albums i took when I had it installed, but it wont let me delete it.

So does anyone know what to do? :S

Try XP_FIX.exe It`s the easy version of Microsoft`s method.

"This installaton program will reinstall the missing or corrupt Windows XP system files command.com, autoexec.nt and config.nt. The absence or corruption of one or more of these files causes a "16 Bit Subsystem" error.

We recommend that you download this file and save it to your desktop or to another location where you can find it. Double click on the file to run it once it's downloaded. If problem reoccurs in the future, simply re-run this program."
