Since Registry Clean can't access computer

A customer came in with a computer (Win 2k) and they said that tey had done a Registry clean and it hasn't been the same since. I could log in and do most things but when you went into My Computer or My Documents or Control Panel, it says down in the bar at the bottom of the folder how many items and stuff, but nothing is there. Iv'e tried showing hidden folders and system folders but that doesn't help. I think i might have to resort to re-installing windows unless anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

the regeditor should have made a backup (only if user asks)
if they did not back up,it's lost
I had this problem with system mechanic Identified reg files that I needed as bad,but I did back up and restored
I use registery mechanic now
even going to last know good condition will not work W$K does not come with system restore point
there is still some hope
found one here
there should be a few more links out there ,not as much as you would think.
