Slow running applications

i am using samsung desktop with 1.8Ghz of CPU and 256 MB RAM, Windows Xp pro. When i run an application, it always take me too long, up to 2 or 3 minutes to run the application. what should i do to deal with this problem?

Assuming you have used this computer online and have had it for a while. I'd say try out some simple things. Pick up an anti-adware/spyware program like Ad-Aware and Spybot: Search & Destroy, update and scan it. From my experience, stuff like spyware, if running in the background can suck up some of your processor's time, thus slowing it down. Hope you find this suggestion useful.

oh thank... well, m using Adaware 6 pro and WinASO Reg, optimizer v2 and stinger as well. any more suggestion?

Do a CHKDSK /F first, then a full defrag.
Get this (free) program CrapCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run that.

have u been accessing that programs shortly time manner before?

maybe i u can improve the page file setting.

recommended page file usage is : 1.5*Your Ram

You can do a full maintenance to your comp.

Maybe some spys causing this slowdown performance.You should update your antispyware and scan in safe mode.

Run msconfig select Startup then review the submenu items that strange.Maybe you can post a ss of your msconfig window.

Then we can see whats wrong with cpu usage

Actually, double your RAM to 512MB, the improvement will be considerable.
With RAM as cheap as it is, you could even consider going to 1GB.
