SmitFraudFix will not open to remove VirusProProtect, what can I do?

I don't know very much about computers. This one is my husbands and I managed to get that stupid VirusProProtect Trojan on it.

I downloaded SmitFraudProtect like everyone told me to, but when I go to run it like they say it can't open.

I have a screen that pops up that says something along the lines of, "If you run (something) in MSDOS it may cause errors and (something something) would you like to run it anyways?"

I tell it yes.
The black SmitFraud screen flashes for a second and then disappears.


This computer has Windows ME on it.

Could that have anything to do with it?

Is there anything I'm doing wrong to run SmitFraud?
If not is there another remover that can get the VirusProtecPro off?

Should you decide to clean your computer, please go ahead to Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions and follow the steps given. Do follow all the instructions exactly. They will provide logs for analysis of your system so I will know how to instruct you to proceed.

You may skip the step which requires you to download smitfraudfix.

Thereafter, please post fresh HijackThis, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread. Do not copy and paste your logs if not it will be ignored and/or removed.

Also, please let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan
