Sound Drivers broken after each reboot

I have a ABIT Fatal1ty MB with onboard RealTek audio.
For some time now, whenever I reboot there is no audio.
I have to reinstall the drivers on each boot.
In the end of the driver installation there is a request to reboot my computer. So, I have to select not to reboot and the audio will work until next bootup.

I've tried different versions of the drivers, both directly from RealTek but also from ABIT.

What can happen when I shutdown or reboot that cause this??

It's so frustrating!

I had this happen with my old Santa Cruze sound card on a Biostar motherboard. I was not able to fix this until I changed motherboards. Since you are having this with on-board sound, I suggest that you disable the onboard sound and install a PCI sound card

That is an option... But it's so frustrating!
There must be a reason for the sound driver failing on bootup.

Everything works like a charm under linux.

Try a PCI sound card... I did say that I was not able to fix this under Windows. It might be caused by a Critical Microsoft update that doesn't like your sound cards driver. My problem with the Santa Cruise disappeared when I upgraded my motherboard using the same exact version of Windows XP, SP2
