just got a new M'board with spdif coaxial output.
does this mean it is capable to connect audio to my home theatre
setup thru my audio amplifier.

If your audio amp has a SPDIF coax input, it does. Don't spend a lot of money on a SPDIF coax cable. Any std. audio patch cord will do.
 
I agree with Tarkus entirely but would just like to add that if you use one of the bog standard phono cables I.E the really thin ones you might experience interference because they are not shielded. personally I would reccomend a shielded oxygen free interconnect wich shouldn`t set you back to much around 10 pounds the results will be far superior. A proper coax cable will set you back around 15 pounds upwards. Regards Howard:grinthumb
