I have a problem with my computer where spyware had infected my system. A notification balloon appeared in my task bar saying a number of spyware entries were found and system performance is slow. Also the wallpaper in my desktop changed and is now giving a message that spyware has been detected on my computer and it mentions my IP address and says that unauthorized access was gained through it.

I then followed all of the instructions given in the following link

https://www.techspot.com/community/...lware-removal-preliminary-instructions.58138/

After doing so, the notification balloon in my taskbar stopped appearing but the message in my wallpaper has still not changed. I have included the HJT log, AVG log and Combofix log to this post as attachments. Also, after using the Panda anti rootkit program, two objects with unknown names were found. I didn't peform any actions with it as mentioned in the instructions. Its locations were in C:\windows\system32\drivers\runtime2.sys and C:\windows\temp\startdrv.exe

Also, occasionally a message appears saying Windows Explorer has to shut down and then it loads once again after a few seconds.

Please reply as soon as possible with further instructions.

Please fix the following in your HJT program:

Please make sure you get the right ones since you have alot of 02 entries and some of them are apart of Windows MSN messenger.

ComboFix looks like it picked out most of the viruses you had, but you'll have to wait for someone who is good with ComboFix to see if it's completely cleared or not.

I was only able to fix the first entry you gave in your list as the other entries were not there in the HJT list.

However, the desktop wallpaper has not changed, it still mentions that there is a spyware threat. Is this a problem or can I just changed the wallpaper back to its original state on my own? Also, the problem still persists where a Data Execution Prevention window opens saying Windows Explorer has to close and after it does, windows explorer loads once again after a few seconds.

Run the Panda Antirootkit programme again and have it fix those two entries.

Delete all files in AVG Antispyware quarantine.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 from HERE. Save it to your Desktop and extract it.

2. Download the attached avengerscript.txt and save it to your desktop

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Under "Script file to execute" choose "Load script from file".
Now click on the folder icon which will open a new window titled "open Script File"
navigate to the file you have just downloaded, click on it and press open
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply, as well as a fresh HJT and Combofix log.

Do another scan with Panda Antirootkit and let me know if it finds anything.

Regards Howard :)

I have followed all of the instructions as given above and have included the required logs as attachments.

You didn`t let me know the results of the Panda Antirootkit scan. Please do so in your next reply.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: Her - {971D5B7B-F7DF-43ee-B771-6B7FA09975C3} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\tcprp.dll (file missing)

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\FOUND.022
C:\Qoobox

Reboot your computer.

Other than the above, your log files are clean.

Please let me know the Panda Antirootkit results.

Regards Howard :)

That`s excellent mate.

Looks like you`re good to go then.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Now, turn system restore back on. This will have deleted all your old restore points and any nasties that are in them. It will also have created a new, clean restore point.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

Regards Howard :)
