The 5w charger that came with my previous iPhones has a USB type A port, but starting with the iPhone 12 they didn't come with a charger, but came with a USB-type C to Lightning cable which isn't compatible with any of their old chargers. If Apple was trying to save the polar bears by reducing waste saying people will likely have a charger already why would they include a cable incompatible with their previous chargers? If they wanted to save waste using the previous-charger excuse they shouldn't have included a cable either and they should have given people the option to get a phone with a charger and cable in the same box.Personally, I've never needed one for the past few years. I connect to my computer anyway
because I prefer slow charging. Plus, considering how fast people "upgrade" they should have
a drawer full of these bricks.
