System hangs when I try to use the CD ROM

I have a Compaq SR102WM Computer, I have just completed a clean install of Windows XP Pro, I have restored just about everything that I wanted from my old system(Winsows XP Home) but my problem is that now, when I try to read a disk from the CD-ROM drive the system hangs. The CD-RW that I have is a Sony CRX215E5 and it worked fine under Windows XP Home and now it doesn't. I have tried to download and use the Firmware from Sony but it doesn't work, after I get to the part where I'm asked to reboot, the install quits instead of continuing after the reboot :knock. I am using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 upgrade. :bounce: :bounce:
