System Restore Error

I keep gettin the error System Restore is Unable to protect your computer please restart your computer and restart system restore.

I looked on line and the best i foundw as to start it again in the admintool>services then hit start but then it give the error Could not start the system restore service service on a local computer. Error 3: The system can not find the path specified.

I thought that a reformat was supposed to start from fresh why did i get this problem?

Pretty sure that it is not a virus

I sure hope that' the case... I just automatically disable System Restore in all my systems
