had a used base unit,when i plug it in,the computer sounds like its firing up but its also bleeping on and off continuously,nothing on the monitor,please somebody help me because its driving me mad !!!

Could you be a little bit more specific about the "bleeping" , how many beeps etc. ?

Agreed. Need more system specs. Also, are they short beeps, long beeps, short beeps with long beeps or long beeps with intermittent short beeps??
Going out on a limb here, but how many sticks of RAM do you have in it?? Reason I ask is because if you have more than one stick of RAM, you can try to remove one stick and then reboot. If the problem still occurs, pull out the stick you left in and replace it with the stick you originally pulled out. Just make sure that if you have two sticks of RAM, you have one stick in DIMM slot 0 when trying this.

Do you have Phoenix AwardBios? I had a memory problem before (turned out to be a dead mobo slot) and I got continuous beeping.
