Task manager and regedit aren't working

ok, i am really annoyed. My task manager ain't working anymore no matter what i try, and i attempted to go to my REGEDIT and it says that REGEDIT is not a valid win32 application, so i cant fix that. i have read other's posts about the task manager, as well as googled several places, but i can't get anything useful.
please help! also my limewire keeps restarting, and i am currently reading another post about that problem too. perhaps his is the same? i think so.
i'd still like to know aobut my regedit at least....
oh yeah, and i tested to see how limewire kept restarting itself, and when i unistalled limewire, instead of opening limewire, a java app popped up with the details of what it was using (the files that misteriously werent deleted upon unistalling the porgram).

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

First, go and read this thread HERE It deals with task manager problems.

If that doesn`t help. Go HERE and follow the instructions exactly.

Then, post a fresh HJT log into this thread, only after doing the above.

good news, i got it working by booting in safe mode then deleting the hidden folder "outlook" and now all is working again, halelujah! thanks to this site for helping. and thanks to you howard for attempting to help.
