Work for a small K-12 school with a mix of xp and 2k. Servers are 2k3s.
Having trouble with slow login on winxp. Only on the first time login on an xp machine and only if user had already logged in on a win2k machine. (about 6minutes compared to about 30seconds for the second login). If the very first login is on XP machine then the login is quick. There is a sizable difference in the size of the NTUSER.dat registry file. On the first time login, file size is about 264kb for Win2k and about 512 kb for WinXP. Can anyone tell me what is going on here or how change this first xp login? Definitely seems to be related to policies.
