"In any case, $220 for the RX 580 is an amazing buy, especially considering the GTX 1060 6GB costs at least $30 more"
Honestly for all the "best buy GPU" articles, an over-saturated Pascal market means it's been obvious the 2nd hand market is where it's at for the past couple of months. I recently managed to snag a GTX 1060 6GB for just £111 ($142). Hardly used (non mining), rock solid stable, no errors, quiet fan, original box, etc. It simply ended with few watchers / bidders at a time when everyone was on their way to work / school during a working week day, and there was no last minute "outbid rush". I then sold the old 1050Ti it replaced for £118 minus approx 12% Ebay & Paypal fees = £104 cash back. Total upgrade cost for "$250" +60-70% performance boost = £7 ($9). Like many others who managed to snag a recent good deal on a used Pascal, I really don't feel I'm losing out much skipping buying a brand new card in 2018...
