The found new hardware wizard will not work

Everytime I try to plug in something in a usb port, my pc will read it, but it won't automatically install. I have to do it from device manager everytime, and it's getting annoying. I'm thinking on reinstalling it, but I don't know how. Any suggestions?

Try START/RUN and type SFC /SCANNOW (have your Windows CD handy).

It scans for and fixes any corrupted Services etc.

Will take around 1/2 hr depending on Hardware.

If that doesn't work, you will probably need to do a Repair Install.

I tried them, but it doesn't work. I know for a fact that the ports are working. I just have to manually install it. Could it be a registry problem?
