To Dual Channel or Not to Dual Channel

Ok, I bought another 512 stick of Corsair PC3200, and I'm wondering if it would be better performance wise to use two 512mb PC3200 sticks in Dual Channel mode, or if I should stick in my extra 256mb PC2100 stick for a total of 1.25GB without the benefit of dual channel. Any takers?

IMHO I would go the dual channel route, and ditch the 256mb stick.

alright, just wanted another opinion. I was also figuring that, but i've had people tell me that with battlefield 2 "more ram>faster ram"

The thing is, that if you use the 256mb stick, you will actually be slowing your computer down.

That`s because the 256mb stick is pc2100, and would cause your 512mb sticks of pc3200 to run at pc2100.

Whenever you mix ram speeds, the faster ram will be clocked to the lower ram speed.
