Toshiba 1555CDS XP install help

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite. AMD 450, 256K RAM. I am trying to install XP pro. I get error message during OS install telling me that BIOS is not ACPI compliant. Toshiba says BIOS is ACPI complaint.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have gone into BIOS and set to boot from CD-ROM, then I get partially into OS install then get error message.

That BIOS may be, but the laptop specs must be too low for XP to install.

I guess we will try 2000 then.

Same result with 2000 pro. I am guessing I need to change something in the BIOS now.

Any recommendations now? I get through the loading files then get the error.

2000 should work is 98 was loaded correct?

I had bios version 7.20, changed to 7.4, then went to 7.3.

The secret is in hitting the <f7> key during boot. This will bypass the ACPI stuff and let you load Windows XP and 2000.
