Trident Back From the Dead
Posted by CmdrTaco on Wednesday August 07, @11:24AM

FunkyMonkey writes "It seems that Trident is trying to pull a Matrox and resurrect themselves from the 3D video card grave yard. AnandTech posted a Trident XP4 Preview today that has some interesting information on Trident's latest stab at the graphics market. The company is claiming 80% the performance of the GeForce 4 TI 4600 at a price tag of less than $100 USD including DX 9 support. How? A 0.13 micron process and only 30 million transistors thanks to pipeline resource sharing. "

Well in Matrox's case, they promised & haven't really delivered. The Parhelia has great specs & average performance. The only thing that really works well is the 3 monitor possibiliry but that's not much use for me. I'm impatient to see how it performs with new games.

As for the Trident card, I won't say a thing until it's available & it's been benchmarked up, down & through.;)

PS. Does anyone here own a Parhelia ? I heard they're almost impossible to get through retail stores. The only version available is the slower OEM one. If you want a Parhelia, seems you have to order it online.:(
