Trying to convert an avi file to a dvd burner

I just recently downloaded DIVX Player 6.1. I was astonished to see how fast it burned a video to a DVD but to my surprise it wouldn't play on my regular DVD Player can anyone help me?


Is there a program or free download that can burn files to a DVD that can be played on a regular DVD Player i have a DVD Player that plays CD CD-R DVD DVD-RW etc................ thanx in advance

I use something called ffmpeg that works great for going from xvid or divx to DVD.

Thanx i'm a newbie to all this. I went to the site and i got a little confused with the amount of info on the page, so i googled ffmpeg and i got a couple of links that was quite confusing. Is this an easy program with a easy interface i was trying to drop the file in nero but i had no such luck.
