Trying to get sort "By modified" in music directory

Heya.. kind of a noob question but Im seriously stumped. I just recently reformatted my HD and reinstalled xp. All of my music is on a slave drive so it's still intact, but I can no longer sort by modified in that folder, I only get music options - Sort by album, track number, etc.

Ive tried resetting the template - Rightclick on folder and set template to documents, but its still the same..

any help would be appreciated

In Explorer, click on View (on the top-line), then select Details. When you now click on Date Modified above the column with dates, it sorts it one way, click again and it sorts the other way around.

The folder itself it set into some type of default music folder. When I do view>details the row at the top of the file (where modified should be) is I get name, size, type, artist, album title, year, track, duration. I guess the real question is how do I get this folder out of its music mode and start acting like a plain ol' folder! lol
