two problems now

Not only does my control panel add/remove not show any programs in it but i also found out that i cannot access windows update. it locks up the computer when i try to go there. I also treied downloading sp1 explorer but it said I had a more current version. What should i do now??? Do I have to format my hard drive again???

There are solutions posted on the www.microsoft.com webs site. You do not need to reformat and reinstall your hard drive if you follow the "Resolutions"
that Microsoft has posted... which you can find with a microsoft knowledgebase search, once you connect to Microsoft with Internet Explorer (not Safari, Opera, or Mozilla).

Probably spyware.

Go HERE follow all the steps,then post the HJT,Combofix,and AVG logs,

in the Security forum.Somebody will tell you what to remove.
