USB flash losing partition after unplug

I purchased a 1GB flash drive from a china dealer on ebay. It looks like a Kingston 512MB Data traveler without the logo. I'm guessing its a fake. All I know is that it is a Chipsbank chip inside. The driver disc is all in chinese so I had to manually change the files and folder names to english. Out of all the programs on the disc, only one worked called UMPTool to get 500MB off of it.

If I leave it in the computer it has no problems, but if I unplug it and plug it back in, Windows says it isn't formated, then only reads 8MB and unable to format. I tryed safely removing and still no luck.

never hotswap flash drives. stop them in windows. then unplug.

Never buy mem. sticks of ebay. It is one of the easyest things to ****** and there are many fakes. The only way to find the specs (because it probably isnt on the internet 'cos it is fake..) is to email the seller!
