USB Keyboard not responding when trying to install XP

Ok, so here's the deal. I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 531S pre-loaded with Vista and am attempting to dual boot XP along with Vista. I got everything ready (paritioned the drive, made sure I had the XP and Vista installation cds just in case). I kept on getting the 34 minute hiccup and finally identified the problem to be the USB ports. After disabling them in BIOS, the installation seems to go smoothly with only one little problem: my mouse and keyboard are USB and this particular computer doesn't have any ps/2 ports...... is there anything I can do?

My only suggestion is to try enabling your USB ports again to see if the problem continues. I'm not sure what else you can do but fix the USB port issue..
