Using DVI to HDMI on a 7800gtx and Sony receiver

Hi,

I have purchased a DVI > HDMI cable so I can connect my computer (7800GTX) to my STR-DA1200ES receiver via HDMI.

The computer does not detect the Receiver (as it is not a monitor) so I can't find a way to get a display. I can connect the computer directly to the TV (Axium 56) via DVI (works fine) or to the receiver via component (also works fine) but ultimately I'd like to be able to use HDMI (to free up one of the component inputs so I can use the 360 and DVD Recorder via component, and the PC via HDMI.

Does anybody know of a work around to force the computer to ouput via the secondary DVI or drivers for recognition of the STR-DA1200ES receiver under WindowsXP or any other potential solution? (other than using a differnet connection)

I know this is a pretty unconventional use of the receiver, so it's a bit of a shot in the dark. Many thanks for reading!

You may be able to force your graphics card to detect the tv in the graphics card settings.

I can do that but it forces detection over the VIVO Component port on the 7800, not the secondary DVI port. Cheers for the reply.
