Right now I currently have a Western Digital 120GB HDD. I was thinking about buying a Western Digital 250GB HDD. My question is when I install a new HDD will it act like a storage device? Meaning I wouldn't have to install a OS. Basically I want to store all my multimedia on the bigger HDD and use the smaller for games.

As long as your bios is set to boot from your 120gb you can add another drive no problem.
First, check the jumper setting on the back of your new hard drive, the easiest thing is to set it to cable select (it may say CS on the drive).

Second, if you are going to put it on the same data cable, make sure your 120gb in on the end plug and your new 250gb is on the middle one.

Third, boot into windows then right click on "my computer" and select manage, then storage, disk management. Select your new 250 and format it.

Fourth, enjoy...
