using xbox controller for n64

howdy. i was woundering if anyone could point me in the right direction to make an x-box controller useable for the nintendo 64. the n64 controllers had faulty joysticks and the x-box controllers are the only ones i could find with 6 face buttons.

Surely you can still find some new N64 controllers around. Try eBay etc.

I have bought new controllers but they just dont last.

EDIT: ive seen some controlermods for earlyer systems and it was easy enuf to understand, conecting to the circut board there was a wire for each button. on the n64 controller it has but 3 wires, red black and white, and the x-box ones have 6 , red white green yellow black and coated black. would i need to swap the chips on the controller board, and if so where could i find a place that would explain the prosses?

EDIT: i was thinking about giving the moded controller to a friend for x-mas, so any help i can get is much apreciated.
