Well Bitorrent (& other variants) isn't always used for warez. It has many legitimate uses such as downloading Linux distributions, movie trailers, game demos, etc.

In short, to download a file from the Bitorrent network, you need to find torrent files which will help you locate "seeders" (people sharing the file). Once you have that torrent, it's only a matter of opening it with utorrent & letting it download the file. Common courtesy would ask that once you've finshed downloading the file, you leave it shared & play the role of a seeder yourself for a while.

Just download uTorrent.exe from the uTorrent website and then type in a query in the search box. Now click the magnifying glass button beside the search box to pull it down and select any site to get results from(I prefer TorrentSpy) and then press enter. In the window that opens, select a torrent that has a green bar (all of them will have bars at the far right) and when the next page loads, click download torrent and a window will pop up asking you to open the file with utorrent or save to disk. Choose open and the torrent will be loaded into uTorrent and the download(s) will start.
