Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines Error

Every time I try to enter the Ocean House hotel the game crashes to the desktop and I get this message in the error log:


vampire caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
in module Unknown at 001b:03bcc664.

I have both the official patch v1.2 and unofficial patch v3.5. Can anyone offer a solution to this problem?
