Verifying DMI Pool Data...Then Nothing...Help!

My PC recently booted up with the error message "CMOS Checksum Error - Defaults Loaded". I replaced the CMOS battery as I thought that might be at the root of the problem.

However, now when the PC boots up it gets as far as Verifying DMI Pool Data and then hangs.

Can anyone help with this problem?

If it's any help, the screen before, which scanned for devices, stated that there were no devices on the primary master, primary slave, secondary master or secondary slave. I thought this was odd as the Maxtor HD was recognised at the start.

My mobo is an Abit KR7A.

Ya, go into BIOS, set one of the Defaults. Then check the Standard or Advanced page and make sure it sees your hard drives. Then save and close.
Also have to check your boot order as well.

cheers

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, it looks like the problem lies with the old hard drive as I tried it in another PC, which also failded to boot up.

I have tried a new HD with my PC and it works fine.

Which leads me to another problem, which I will post on the appropriate forum.
