video card recomendation

hi i am looking for a recomendation for a video card i have an hp 8034n athlon duo core 5000 3gb ram ddr2 400gb hd play a lot of flight sim games but right now have onboard graphics am looking at geforce 7900gs 8500gt and an 8600gt from bfg they have whats called thermointelligence cooling anybody heard of it supposed to run cooler than standard cards ? don't need a high end card but a real good midrange .hows the ati versus nvidia ? and choice between 256 and 512 mb memory.thanks.

Hi, if you have a max on what you would be willing to spend i could pick out a perfect card.

Honestly DX10 mid range is a complete and udder waste of money, this includes 8500gt-8600gts and HD2400-2600 complete series'. They suck.

If the 7900gs is in your price range, get an X1950PRO and order it from newegg, also what kind, wattage, and amperage on +12v rail(s) you have.

Dont worry, your PSU is fine for the X1950pro, 512mb is ok if you go with the x1950pro, but if its outta your price range just get 256mb it will be good.

I had a 450w no-name with 18A on one rail run my system (7800gt instead of x1900xtx) so your fine.

That card will run any game at good quality with good fps.

Maximum combined wattage on the 12v rails-divided by 12= amps

You do not just add the 2 rails together. I have 2-18a rails and 22amps. You are totally wrong and giving bad advice.

Lol, does your PSU have +12v1 at 18A and +12v2 at 18A

If so it should be fine to run it.
