video problem

hi i have a problem with my moniter or video codec, when i play videos there is black lines going up and down the screen, can someone tell me what it is and how to fix it please. thanks in advance

Most likely codec trouble. Try Matroska or K-Lite Codec Pack (only recently learned about it).
You might need to deinstall the old codecs from the Add and Remove Software manager in the Control Panel (or directly from a program folder).
But I guess you didn't install any additional codec packs, right?

If you want to know which codecs you have installed, have a look in the System Information or what it's called...perhaps someone with an English OS can tell you. Not even sure which OS you are running.
