I'm trying to help one of our clients with their Toshiba laptop video. Whenever they try to play any video, (streaming, dvd, or on the hard drive) it may play for a second, and then go blank, or it doesn't show at all. The player says that it's playing though. It seems that the media player decoder is conflicting with the toshiba hardware decoder, and I think I'm supposed to disable the media player one, and enable the hardware one, but that option isn't available. If anybody knows how to fix this, please help! The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100, with a P4 2.0 Ghz processor, 512 MB RAM. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like an overlay problem. Try disabling use of overlays in WMP and see if you can play videos then.
