Virus?? "xoqooqna.exe"

I am looking at someone's lapto running xp w/sp2.

Right now, when you log on, the only thing you see is the curser and the background pic.

I can get to Task Manager and the only thing I could not ID was something called xoqooqna.exe.

I have tried a number of times to kill it, but it keeps coming back.

Got no hits on google.

Does the same thing in safe mode too, alothough the thing does not appear in the Task Manager window in Safe Mode.

Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

That filename is more than likely a trojan of some kind. However, I don`t know if the malware is causing the problems you are seeing.

Try doing a Windows repair as per this thread HERE and see if it helps. Obviously, you`ll need access to a Windows CD.
