Vista: Cannot Find Any Wireless Networks

Please I need some help. I am running Vista and I cannot find any wireless networks. I live with 5 other people who are running 4 PCs with XP and a Mac. They can all find our home wireless router AND 4 other networks from the area. The diagnosis for me is that I am too far out of range. But One of the other PCs is in the basement below the router and my roommates computer is even further from the router than mine is. When it is hardwired into the router, I can see their computers and the router. The device manager says my wireless card is up to date and working properly. I have no idea what to do. Please, someone help me!!

Thanks

Try a different wireless card, and make sure there is no mac address filter or anything like that.

Did you install it using vista drivers? (usually found on website) and has the router been set to a limited number of pcs it allows to connect to?
