Vista Home Premium and winsocket problems?

I get this about once a day and only rebooting the computer fixes the problem:
An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.

And for example when that error has occurred I can't connect to any web site (using firefox and ie) nor cannot I connect to any mirc server for example, mirc gives error (Permission denied) when trying to connect any server.

However, I can ping and receive ping answers through command prompt.


I googled and found out that this is probably some kind of winsocket problem. But I have no idea as how to fix this, it's really annoying. About every now and then (usually 1 time in 24 hours time) this problem occurs and only rebooting fixes it.

Any ideas?

Try downloading Winsock Fix HERE and see if it works.

That said, very often such problems are malware related. I would suggest going through our Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions and opening a new thread in our security and the web forum to post your logs.
