Vista will not install

I just built a computer from the ground up (see profile) Got into the BIOS & set the dvd drive to be first boot. Also made other minor adjustments.

I have an OEM Vista DVD that needs to be installed clean. No problem - the hard drive is brand new also (nothing on it). I insert the disc in the disc drive, restart the computer - it goes through it process, spins up the disc, and then says "Disk boot error, insert system disk and press enter".

Huh?

What do I do now?

The only system disk I have is this OS DVD

Likely cause DVD drive data cable, not secure (power OK)

Can also be faulty Disc or Drive (but that's obvious)

In CMOS can you set all startup devices to CD/DVD (if so, it may help starting it)

The jumpers on the back on the DVD drive, are set to CS or Master ? (try swapping between that)
