I recently purchased a brand new wd740 raptor.
I tried to install windows xp on it but the system would crash if i would select the "full format" option. The only thing that worked was "quick format" which was rather slow.
When it finished copying the files and rebooted, a blue screen appeared with the c0000221 hard stop error.
I believe that it is the hard drive as i have tried replacing the memory, using different windows xp cd, different cd drive, different set of cables, i am using stock clocks and have never overclocked the system on which i used the hard drive.
I also tried the diagnostic tools(both windows and dos) by western digital and it showed that the hard drive had too many errors, also tried a different sata hard drive with no problems at all.
Would need probably replacing but if anyone has any ideas how to fix it i would really appreciate it.
